Plain yogurt is one of my fave ingredients for a good dose of probiotics for gut health. You must then know that yogurt must have topical benefits, as well.
The lactic acid in yogurt helps to remove dead skin cells, leaving your skin smooth and fresh. The zinc in yogurt provides antioxidant protection and aids in wound healing, particularly on acne.
Add oatmeal and steeped tea leaves and you have yourself a natural exfoliant. Oats can be ground up first in a food processor for a less abrasive scrub. Oatmeal is naturally soothing for the skin, particularly on sunburns, rashes, and dryness.
In a small bowl, combine
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 1 TBSP ground oat flakes
- 1 bag steeped chamomile tea leaves
Apply liberally to a clean face and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse off and follow with moisturizer while the skin is still damp. Repeat weekly or as needed.
Tip: To soothe a burn, refrigerate this recipe until chilled, then use on sunburned skin to soothe.
