Dark Chocolate Bark


The less sweets you eat, the less you crave. Yes? Yes, but, I do like just one bite of something sweet now and again. Real, raw chocolate, maple syrup, coconut oil and dried fruit are all the sweetness I need. Combine them to form a quick dessert and I am happy. This week, I was inspired by the Oh She Glows recipe for Crazy Good Chocolate Bark. I omitted the almond butter and I added dried fruit and grated raw chocolate to the mix for a little extra richness and some chewy texture that I was craving. Check it out…


Place a stainless bowl over a small pot of boiling water. Add to the bowl:

  • 3 oz dark, unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup raw cacao powder

Once melted, remove from heat and stir for about a minute. Add:

  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

Use a spatula to pour melted chocolate onto a baking sheet lined with parchment and a sprinkling of sliced almonds. Keep the mixture about 1/4 inch thickness. Sprinkle with more almonds and dried fruit. I like the organic blend of sour cherries, wild berries, cranberries and blueberries from Patience Fruit Co.

Place into the fridge for about 1/2 hour, or freezer for 15 minutes until completely cooled. Break apart and store in a cool place!
