Nourishment during pregnancy is obviously what your, and your baby’s body, needs to grow and thrive. Postpartum nourishment is also so important, as our body is trying to heal, produce milk, balance hormones, and function through “mommy brain” episodes. The struggle is real!
This soothing smoothie is wonderful during pregnancy because it’s easy to digest, it is full of electrolytes to prevent dehydration during morning sickness, and it’s full of protein and healthy fats to nourish your and baby’s brain.
Soak in 1/2 cup water for half hour (to aid in digestion):
1/2 cup oats
1 handful of cashews
Add soaked oats, cashews and the water you soaked them in, to a blender with:
1/2 C almond milk
Pinch sea salt
Drizzle of maple syrup or 1 pitted medjool date
Blend with ice if you prefer it cold.
